Wow, this group is huge. Come on people. I don't even have my Scirocco yet and I'm here.

Hello other member. My '77 Scirocco made it to it's new home in my garage yesterday. I replaced the fuel pump relay and fired it up. It acted like it was flooded at first then smoothed out and purred like a kitten (through the 2" TT cat back system with Dynomax muffler.) Old oil began burning off from the exhaust manifold as it heated up. Then a light stream of oil smoke began coming from the exhaust... It ran for nearly 1/2 hr then stopped smoking. I took it for a short trip around the block but soon realized that the bottom end is sounding a bit loose. Not sure yet if I will be putting the engine (in the picture) I built for the GTI or putting together a fresh one to slide in until I get some time behind the wheel... We shall see.

I was thrilled when I looked further into the suspension to find H&R springs at all for corners to go along with the Bilstien shocks and struts and full front and rear shock and strut bars (Top front was actually used by the PO on another car of his)

I'll get some pics up soon.

stumbled on to this site looking for info.
I own an 84 rocco recived last nov. Started out as only a fuel problem.
replaced fuel tank ,pump ,accumlator ready to test but needed to resolve a problem with my clutch.witch was changed before I bought the car.
petal to the floor replaced the cable still nothing .Dropped the trany out and all the parts look new. After scraching my head I started looking at the flywheel.
and removed it.I found something strange behind the flywheel it had been rubbing the metal plate on the motor housing. My crankshaft is moving 3-4 mm in and out.So now I'm removing the motor and digging deeper.
