Last summer my family and I were visiting friends out in the country a ways. I decided to have a look around, b/c I knew the family had some cool toys. As I walked out back, I saw one of the coolest cars ever sitting in front of their pole barn. It was in pretty rough shape, and had clearly been sitting for some time. I had never seen an mki rabbit before, and needless to say, it was love.

I offered to help the owner fix it up should she decide to sell it, and she seemed intrigued by my willingness to help. She ended up calling about two days later, and practically gave me the car for nothing but the assurance that I would bring it back to life. It was one of the happiest days of my life, haha.

For me it was when I first started, first car I ever drove was an MK3 golf 2.0L, now its probably one of the slowest cars out there but more than enough for someone starting out, fell in love with it. Eventually putting parts on it, from coils and wheels to a sound system, doing it all myself. After That car, I think I will never want a car more than I would a VW!

It was a cool Fall overcast day. Dad took me with him to the VW dealership down the road from the Cowboy's Stadium. He was going there to check on a car for my sister, an 87 Jetta GL that later briefly passed through my possession. While he was talking to the salesman, I spotted myself a nice hardly used 97 GTI, dark metallic green, full leather seating, sunroof, Monsoon system, VR6 and 5 speed manual transmission with 16" alloys. It was a gem of a vehicle, only 20k miles on its soul. As I sat in the driver's seat rowing through the gears, I had inadvertently fallen in love with car. It was exactly the car I would be perfectly happy with for the rest of my life, though it wouldn't be my first Volkswagen...

Five years on down the road I got my break, after I joined the Army, Dad helped me out once again with the paperwork for my very own 2001 GTI 1.8T GLS. Not quite a cookie-cutter version of my first encounter, being uni black with the turbo engine and factory 17" alloys, it was still a wonderful sight. I waited 14 weeks for this car after ordering it...it was worth every bit of the wait.

I always loved hatchbacks. I had several Escort GT's and decided to step up to a VW Golf. I had a '99. It was not without its share of issues and I dumped it. Several cars later , I missed the fun to drive VW and picked up my Rabbit. This is by far the most "stuff" I have done to any of my cars and I have now become a car snob. I can't see myself driving anyting other than a German car now.

While in the USAF from 1968 > 1972 & I was in need of a car. Being stationed in Merced Ca. I went to the local VW dealer,

I bought my first dub in 05 and it was an 02 VR jetta black on black. Still have it matter a fact. I knew VWs had power and great cars, but my friend had a MK4 gti with a vr. I fell in love with the power and sound of the exhaust. He put me on with vortex and eurotuner mags, the rest is history. Met alot of ppl at shows, gtgs. and on vtex fourms. Just seeing what we can do to vw's and audi's is amazing. My car (barack) is everything I could ask for....no homo. The compliments I get makes it worth while. This is my lifestyle and proud of it. VW for life son.
