FS MK3 Jetta Glx with some mods, show/class winner...one million dollars..
What gives? I almost made the mistake of selling my car not too far in the distant past but i held onto it for a couple of reasons (lack of interest in it, and lack of wanting a car payment). So i get her cleaned up for the Mo-Kan show in Lawrence, Kansas, fight back some rain and clean her again.
I walk with best in class, and the stereo comp trophy. Yay me, yay my car. So as i'm pondering how the next 2500 of my disposable income will transform her into a more euro ride (front end to eurospec + new wheels), i relish the feeling of pride in ownership and the joy of seeing all the vw's at the shows that inspire.
Then i start to see the old tell-tell signs of people losing their minds. Some kid makes the cover of Eurotuner with an old scirocco (granted its nice) with only a 16v turbo and he's trying to get 15k for his car. WTF? Seriously. It made me reflect on my recent sale attempt of a hardly modded jetta with low miles (2nd owner) and no one even offering a reasonable amount, then some doo-dah with a 2000 dollar car, 200 dollar engine, 300 dollar turbo and 3000 dollar paint job is trying to get 15k
why? why is it acceptable? Granted i'm sure those figures i used were not what he paid, however between myself and a co-worker those are the figures we tallied when we thought about building the same car.
Just wanted to speak about the madness and reaffirm my love for my car as we head into another year.
